Deep Tissue & Sports Massage

Targeted deep tissue and sports massage to release chronic tension, aid recovery and restore mobility.

How Deep Tissue & Sports Massage Can Help

  • Chronic pain
  • Sports injuries & recovery
  • Muscle tension & spasm
  • Limited mobility
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Postural problems
  • Osteoarthritis pain
  • Fibromyalgia

Deep tissue and sports massage are therapeutic treatments performed with a clear aim: to treat a specific condition, injury or pattern of tension — not simply to pamper.

What is deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage works muscle tissue at a deeper, more fundamental level than a standard relaxation massage. Using slow strokes and firm finger pressure on contracted areas — working along or across the muscle fibres, tendons and fascia — it releases the chronic patterns of tension that build up in the body over months and years.

What is sports massage?

Sports massage focuses on the muscle systems used in athletic activity. It can be a vital part of your regular training, help you prepare for and recover from sporting activity, or support rehabilitation from an acute or chronic injury.

The deep muscular work may feel intense at first, but as your muscles and joints respond you will notice a significant reduction in stiffness and a real improvement in flexibility. Better strength and movement — or welcome relief from a nagging injury — can lift your athletic form and be genuinely beneficial psychologically as well as physically.

What can these massages help with?

Both are forms of therapeutic massage: treatments catered and tailored to your specific issues, requirements and goals. Our therapists often combine a number of styles and techniques — including Swedish, Thai, trigger-point compression and electro-neuromuscular methods — to relieve sore muscles and increase endurance, power and flexibility. They may help with:

  • Chronic pain
  • Acute onset pain
  • Limited mobility
  • Recovery from injuries such as whiplash, falls and sports injuries
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Postural problems
  • Osteoarthritis pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscle tension and spasm

What about a holistic massage?

If you are looking for something less targeted, our holistic massage is a full-body treatment designed to de-stress, relax and detoxify while improving the tone of muscle and skin tissue. It is the ideal massage for relieving the strains of daily life, and can be adjusted to focus on specific problem areas or the whole body — whichever you prefer.

What to expect at your appointment

Your therapist will begin by discussing your symptoms, activity levels and goals, then tailor the pressure, techniques and focus of the massage accordingly. Some soreness after a deep treatment is normal and usually settles within a day or two — most people notice looser muscles, easier movement and better sleep almost immediately.

What Clients Say About Our Deep Tissue & Sports Massage

Rated 4.7 on Google

“I have been having migraines induced from back and neck pain, practically from the amount of hours I am standing and sitting in front of a computer. I went to see Nick yesterday (with a migraine). He identified all the 'knots' on my back and neck and worked on them for 45 minutes of deep tissue massage followed by acupuncture. Last night was the first night I slept. Today I am sore, but no migraine. Can't thank him enough. He knows exactly what he is doing and he works with the patient. One more brownie point, unlike most acupuncturists who will try to sell you more and more sessions after, he didn't. He was honest that I may need one more. Real gem in South West London.”

“Brilliant place - very helpful therapists! Danielle was exceptionally great! This might be the best place in the area!”
