Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) involves “micro-needling” the face with a Dermaroller to stimulate the body’s own production of collagen and elastin. At the Fairlee Wellbeing Centre the treatment is carried out by a highly trained professional, ensuring results that are both safe and effective.

How does it work?

The micro-needles finely puncture the epidermis — the skin’s outermost layer — which heals quickly, triggering the production of fresh collagen beneath. Unlike more aggressive resurfacing treatments, CIT builds up the lower layers of the skin while keeping the protective outer layers intact. The result is skin that is genuinely renewed from within, rather than stripped from the surface.

What can collagen induction therapy help with?

What to expect at your appointment

Your practitioner will start by assessing your skin and talking through the concerns you would like to address, so the treatment can be tailored to you. The Dermaroller is then worked methodically over the treatment area, creating thousands of microscopic channels in the epidermis.

Immediately afterwards the skin typically looks flushed, similar to mild sunburn, and this usually settles within a day or two. Because the protective layers of the skin are preserved, downtime is minimal compared with more invasive procedures — most people return to their normal routine straight away, with simple aftercare advice on protecting and hydrating the skin while it renews.

Collagen production continues in the weeks following treatment, so improvements build gradually — skin becomes progressively smoother, firmer and more even in tone. Depending on the concern being treated, a course of sessions may be recommended; your practitioner will advise on the right interval and number of treatments for your skin.
