Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural approach to facial rejuvenation. Very fine, disposable acupuncture needles are placed at strategic points on the face, increasing the local production of collagen and elastin to strengthen the structure of the skin from within.

How can cosmetic acupuncture help me?

Cosmetic acupuncture may be used to soften deep lines while smoothing away the finer lines around the eyes, nose and lips. It can also help to lift bags under the eyes, lighten the appearance of dark circles and firm the chin line.

After treatment, many clients find they have a glowing complexion, diminished puffiness around the eyes and a general lifting of the face.

How does it compare with surgery or Botox?

The lifting effects of cosmetic acupuncture can be profound — without any of the pinch-and-pull effects that surgery can produce. Repeated surgery and Botox can create a mask-like appearance over time; this effect is never seen with cosmetic acupuncture, which works with your skin’s own renewal processes rather than freezing or filling it.

Because the treatment stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, results build gradually and look like you — only fresher. It is an excellent choice if you want to look brighter and more rested while keeping full, natural movement in your face.

What to expect at your appointment

Your session begins with a short consultation about your skin, your general health and the areas you would most like to improve. You will then lie back comfortably while ultra-fine, pre-sterilised needles are placed at selected points on the face. Most people find the sensation minimal — many find the treatment deeply relaxing and some even doze off.

The needles remain in place while you rest, before being removed and safely disposed of. There is no downtime: you can return to your day straight away. Occasionally a tiny, short-lived mark may appear at a needle point, but the face is otherwise left looking refreshed rather than treated.

As with all acupuncture at the Fairlee Wellbeing Centre, only single-use, pre-sterilised needles are used, and treatment is carried out by an experienced acupuncturist. A course of sessions is usually recommended for the best and longest-lasting results — your practitioner will advise on the right plan for your skin.
