Nick qualified in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and massage from the college of integrated Chinese medicine in 1997. Since qualifying Nick has been involved in both teaching and clinical research into the benefits of acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Since 2000 Nick has worked for NHS and now practices at Guys and St. Thomas hospital NHS trust, where he is senior practitioner working within a team providing acupuncture for chronic pain.
Working in a very busy NHS department has given Nick invaluable experience in dealing with chronically ill patients providing a unique integrated approach to an individuals health care needs within a hospital environment.
Nick’s particular area of expertise are in muscular-skeletal pain especially treating complicated chronic conditions.
Clinical Research plays an important role in Nicks clinical development and he has been involved in a number of clinical research trials including Chinese herbal medicine in the management of high blood pressure; acupuncture in the treatment of back pain (funded by Southampton university) and on-going patient evaluation using MYMOP with over 2000 patients treatments reviewed.
The clinical team are about to embark on a clinical research project using a multidisciplinary approach to treating fibromyalgia.
Nick has over 20 years experience working in the NHS and in private medicine and has treated patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.
Nick is registered and medically insured with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (MRCHM) and is bound by the registers codes of ethic and practice.
