Tui Na massage is a full body-work healing process, relatively similar to acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
There is a acknowledged network of 12 pairs of meridians across the entire body – one of the pair of meridians being on the right hand side of the body and it corresponding partner on the left together with 2 unpaired meridians encircling an individuals head, down the middle of the body.
Whilst these meridians have no anatomical structure, they are seen as key energy pathways..
At uneven distances along these meridians there are certain points (i.e. the ‘acu’ points of acupuncture) where pressure, needles and/or heat can impact the energy flows through each meridian. The resulting effect of this can present itself at quite distant from where the stimulus is actually applied. When the human bodies’ energy flow is disturbed, the resulting imbalance can have numerous negative effects such as pain, stiffness, sickness and sometimes even emotional pain.
Tui Na Massage is one of the most effective techniques of developing and maintaining the body’s balance. Whilst it may appear to be a thorough the workout of soft tissues and joints, the expert masseuse aims to do more than this by concentrating on meridians and selected Acu-points points for the desired effect, which is specifically tailored to the requirements of the recipient of the massage.
In China, typically Tui Na is used for issues and conditions that may be treated by osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapists or with administration of certain drugs.
Tui Na massage can be used to treat recurring pain, especially that caused by muscloskeletal aliments and injuries, along with neck, shoulder, back pain, immobility, sciatica and ‘tennis elbow’.
Moreover, Tui Na is often effective for the treatment of headaches, migraines, IBS, constipation, PMS and a vast range of emotional troubles.
This is a very vigorous form of massage, with every technique merging movement with focused pressure, after which you may feel slightly sore following an initial session, however following that most people’s bodies adjust to the deep pressure that is applied.
Depending on the type of Tui Na treatment you receive, you might feeling rather light headed subsequently, with some feeling rather tired while others feeling supercharged.
