What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapists combine their knowledge, skills and approach to improve a broad range of physical problems associated with different ‘systems’ of the body.

In particular they treat neuromuscular (brain and nervous system), musculoskeletal (soft tissues, joints and bones), cardiovascular and respiratory systems (heart and lungs and associated physiology).

How can Physiotherapy help?

Sports and soft tissue injuries
Sprains and bruising to the soft tissue e.g. muscles, ligaments, cartilage, nerve and tendon problems.

Neck and back disorders
Includes prolapsed discs, joint degeneration, sciatica, lumbago, stiff/painful neck and referred leg and arm pains

Headaches & Migraines
We look at the cause of your headache and treat them problems accordingly.

Postural dysfunction
To correct postural problems and muscle imbalances.

Joint problems
Including arthritis, rheumatic disorders, injuries, pain swelling and stiffness in joints such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles can be alleviated with physiotherapy treatment.

Repetitive strain and overuse injuries plus other work related conditions
We provide treatment with methods including ergonomic assessments and preventative advice.

Fractures
Treatment of fractures can increase the healing rate and return to full function.

Orthopaedic conditions
Rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery, e.g. knee cartilage operations, ligament repair, shoulder or back surgery.

Pre and post natal conditions
Advice on exercise and relaxation and treatment for back pain and associated problems related to pregnancy.
