Practitioner in: Osteopathy

Helena started her adult life as a professional violinist in Scotland and London, before training first as a massage therapist in 1986, and then as an Osteopath in the late ’80s. She taught at the London School of Osteopathy in 1991/2 and ’96/7, and wrote a well-reviewed lay person’s guide to Back Pain (publ. by Chrysalis Books in 1995).

She has practised Osteopathy in various clinics, a gym, a converted morse code machine factory and a moving train in India!

Helena’s main aim as an Osteopath is to help people out of pain effectively and gently wherever possible. Using a pragmatic approach based equally on traditional techniques and modern science, she enjoys working with patients from newborns to those in their nineties.

Helena draws on a wealth of practical experience, using massage, subtle muscle release techniques, traditional joint manipulation and working in the cranial field. The latter is so gentle that it is particularly suited to babies and children, the elderly, people in acute pain and those frail through serious sickness. Although Osteopathy is used to treat a huge range of problems related to the structure of the body, Helena’s special interests besides back pain include baby feeding problems, children’s injuries, migraines/jaw dysfunction, musicians in general, and unpicking stubborn symptoms in particular.
